The county spans an area of 471.13 square miles (1220.22 square kilometre), of which, 468.78 square miles (1214.13 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.36 square miles (6.11 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 38th largest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.

For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.
