Gallatin County is a county located in Montana, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. It is home to over 67831 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 89824, It is third most populous county in Montana. The county extends throughout a territory of 2631.84 mi˛ (6816.43 square kilometre ), of which, 2605.84 square miles (6749.09 square kilometre) of it is land and 26 square miles (67.34 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 24th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 67831 people, 26323 households, and 16196 families living in the county. The population density was 26 people per square mile (10.04/km˛), giving it the fifth most densely populated county among the Montana. There were 29489 housing units at an average density of 11.3 per square mile (4.36/km˛). The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.94. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 22% under the age of 18, 18.5% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 108.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.7 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 89824, The racial makeup of the county was 86515 White, 437 Black or African American, 920 American Indian, 869 Asian, 59 Native Hawaiian, and 1024 from two or more races.
