Gaithersburg City is a city in the Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is home to over 52613 people (2000 census). The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 58744, It is tenth most populous in Maryland. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.16 sq mi (26.31 sq km), of which, 10.09 square miles (26.13 sq km) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 58th largest by total area in Maryland.
