Gaines County is a county located in the United States of Texas. It is home to over 14467 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 15081, giving it the 137th largest population among Texas's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 1502.84 mi˛ (3892.34 sq km ), of which, 1502.35 square miles (3891.07 sq km) of it is land and 0.49 square miles (1.27 sq km) of it is water, it is the 22nd largest in terms of geographical size.
