Gage County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 22993 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 23035, It is the 14th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The county extends throughout a territory of 859.94 sq mi (2227.23 sq km ), of which, 855.29 square miles (2215.19 sq km) of it is land and 4.65 square miles (12.04 sq km) of it is water, making it the 24th largest by size in Nebraska.

The population density was 26.9 people per square mile (10.39/kmē), it is the 15th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 10030 housing units at an average density of 11.7 per square mile (4.52/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.91 people. In the county Age distribution was 24% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 23035, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 22426 White, 112 Black or African American, 152 American Indian, 114 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 219 from two or more races.
