Gadsden County is a one of the county from Florida's 67 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the county was 45087 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 47560, It is the 43rd most populous county in the U.S. state of Florida. The county comprises an area of 528.49 sq mi (1368.78 square kilometre), of which, 516.13 square miles (1336.77 square kilometre) of it is land and 12.35 square miles (31.99 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the seventh smallest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 45087 people in the county, organized into 15867 households, and 11429 families residing in the county. The population density was 87.4 people per square mile (33.75/kmē), it is the 39th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 17703 housing units at an average density of 34.3 per square mile (13.24/kmē). The average household size was 2.69 people, and the average family size was 3.18 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 110.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 115.6 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 47560, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 20594 White, 26249 Black or African American, 161 American Indian, 198 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, and 344 from two or more races.
