Frenchtown Borough is a borough located in the Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of 2000 the population was 1488. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1454, making it the 58th least populous in New Jersey. It is spread over 1.34 miē (3.47 kmē), of which, 1.28 square miles (3.32 kmē ) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 139th smallest by total area among New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1488 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the borough. The population density was 1160.7 people per square mile (448.15/kmē), making its New Jersey's 93rd least densely populated borough. There were 630 housing units at an average density of 492.2 per square mile (190.04/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the borough Age distribution was 22.5% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.8 females. The median age is 38 years, The median age of males was 38.8 years, for females the median age was 37.3 years. The racial makeup of the borough was 95.97% White, 0.4% Black or African American, 0.2% American Indian, 1.21% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.87% from two or more races and 1.34% Other races.
