Fremont County, Wyoming


Fremont County is a county in the United States of Wyoming. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 35804 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 38113, giving it the fifth largest population among Wyoming's county. It covers total area of 9265.8 sq mi (23998.31 sq km), of which, 9182.27 square miles (23781.97 sq km) of it is land and 83.53 square miles (216.34 sq km) of it is water, it is the second largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Wyoming.

As of the census of 2000, there were 35804 people, 13545 households, and 9484 families living in the county. The population density was 3.9 people per square mile (1.51/kmē), it is tenth most densely populated county in Wyoming. There were 15541 housing units at an average density of 1.7 per square mile (0.66/kmē). The average household size was 2.58 persons, and the average family size was 3.1 persons. The population's age distribution was 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 38113, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 76.84% White, 0.79% Black or African American, 19.93% American Indian, 0.48% Asian, 0.08% Native Hawaiian, and 1.87% from two or more races.
