Fremont County is one of the 99 county of Iowa, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 8010 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7446, It is the eighth smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. It covers total area of 516.76 sq mi (1338.4 sq km), of which, 511.08 square miles (1323.69 sq km) of it is land and 5.68 square miles (14.71 sq km) of it is water, it is the 32nd smallest in terms of geographical size.

Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 7446, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.96% White, 0.46% Black or African American, 0.28% American Indian, 0.39% Asian, 0.21% Native Hawaiian, and 0.7% from two or more races.
