Freeport City is a city located in Walton County, Florida, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 1190 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1768, It is the 175th smallest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. The city has a total area of 10.81 sq mi (28 sq km), of which, 10.78 square miles (27.92 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, making it the 172nd largest by size in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1190 people in the city, organized into 500 households, and 327 families residing in the city. The population density was 110.4 people per square mile (42.63/kmē), it is Florida's 26th least densely populated city. There were 563 housing units at an average density of 52.2 per square mile (20.15/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.4 males. The median age is 38 years, The median age of males and females living in Freeport City was 36.3 and 38.8 years respectively. The racial makeup of the city was 92.77% White, 2.35% Black or African American, 2.18% American Indian, 0.08% Asian, 0.17% Native Hawaiian, 2.27% from two or more races and 0.17% Other races.
