In July 2008, its estimated population was 4481, It is the 368th most populous in the U.S. state of Illinois. Its area is just over 3.24 mi˛ (8.39 square kilometre), of which, 3.19 square miles (8.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Illinois's 321st largest by total area.
