Fredericktown City is a United States city located in the Madison County, Missouri, United States. In 2000, the population was 3928. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4151, making it the 163rd most populous in Missouri. The city spans an area of 4.41 sq mi (11.42 square kilometre), of which, 4.27 square miles (11.06 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 138th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3928 residents, 1625 households, and 1010 families in the city. The population density was 919.9 people per square mile (355.18/kmē), giving it the 469th most densely populated city among the Missouri. There were 1817 housing units at an average density of 425.5 per square mile (164.29/kmē). The average household size was 2.28 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 24.6% who were 65 or older. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 97.76% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.33% American Indian, 0.59% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.71% from two or more races and 0.41% Other races.
