Frederick County is a county located in the United States of Maryland. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 195277 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 225721, giving it the eighth largest population among Maryland's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 667.34 sq mi (1728.4 kmē ), of which, 662.88 square miles (1716.85 kmē) of it is land and 4.46 square miles (11.55 kmē) of it is water, making it the fifth largest by size in Maryland.

In the county Population was distributed with 27.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 225721, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 192515 White, 20354 Black or African American, 652 American Indian, 8095 Asian, 93 Native Hawaiian, and 4012 from two or more races.
