Franklin County is a one of the county from Texas's 254 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 9458 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 11001, making it Texas's 160th largest county. The county has a total area of 294.77 square miles (763.45 kmē), of which, 285.66 square miles (739.86 kmē) of it is land and 9.12 square miles (23.62 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 11001, The racial makeup of the county was 10197 White, 615 Black or African American, 86 American Indian, 22 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 81 from two or more races.
