Franklin County is a county located in Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of the county was 129313 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 143495, It is the 26th most populous county in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The county encompasses an area of 772.63 square miles (2001.1 kmē ), of which, 771.92 square miles (1999.26 kmē) of it is land and 0.71 square miles (1.84 kmē) of it is water, it is the 27th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

In the county Age distribution was 24% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 16% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.8 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 143495, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.79% White, 3.16% Black or African American, 0.19% American Indian, 0.84% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 0.96% from two or more races.
