Franklin County, Ohio is a county of the United States of Ohio. In 2000, the population was 1068978. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1129067, It is the second largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 543.32 sq mi (1407.19 sq km), of which, 539.87 square miles (1398.26 sq km) of it is land and 3.45 square miles (8.94 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 23rd largest by total area in Ohio.

Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.1% under the age of 18, 11.7% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 1129067, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 835544 White, 222480 Black or African American, 3767 American Indian, 45761 Asian, 842 Native Hawaiian, and 20673 from two or more races.
