Franklin County is a county located in Georgia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 20285 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 21824, making it Georgia's 83rd largest county. The county encompasses an area of 266.37 sq mi (689.9 square kilometre ), of which, 263.29 square miles (681.92 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.07 square miles (7.95 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 44th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

In the county Age distribution was 23.9% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 21824, The racial makeup of the county was 19504 White, 1930 Black or African American, 81 American Indian, 112 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 193 from two or more races.
