Franklin County is a county located in the United States of Florida. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 11057 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 11202, giving it the fourth smallest population among Florida's county. It has total area of 1037.48 mi˛ (2687.06 square kilometre), of which, 544.34 square miles (1409.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 493.14 square miles (1277.23 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 21st largest by total area in Florida. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 11057 people, 4096 households, and 2727 families living in the county. The population density was 20.3 people per square mile (7.84/km˛), making its Florida's sixth least densely populated county. There were 7180 housing units at an average density of 13.2 per square mile (5.1/km˛). The average household size was 2.28 people, and the average family size was 2.77 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 18% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 129.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 135.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 11202, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 9086 White, 1865 Black or African American, 70 American Indian, 33 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 142 from two or more races.
