Franklin County is a United States county located in the United States of Arkansas. In 2000, county's population was 17771 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 18185 in July 2008, It is the 41st most populous county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. It has total area of 619.69 mi˛ (1604.99 square kilometre), of which, 609.55 square miles (1578.73 square kilometre) of it is land and 10.13 square miles (26.24 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 22nd smallest by total area in Arkansas.

The population density was 29.2 people per square mile (11.27/km˛), giving it the 36th most densely populated county among the Arkansas. There were 7673 housing units at an average density of 12.6 per square mile (4.86/km˛). The average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the county Age distribution was 25.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.4 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 18185, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 17372 White, 237 Black or African American, 188 American Indian, 119 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 258 from two or more races.
