Franklin City is a city located in Venango County, Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 7212. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 6664, It is the 177th largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 4.7 square miles (12.17 square kilometre), of which, 4.62 square miles (11.97 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 122nd largest by size in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7212 residents, 3030 households, and 1825 families in the city. The population density was 1560.2 people per square mile (602.4/kmē), it would be the 765th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. There were 3281 housing units at an average density of 710.2 per square mile (274.21/kmē). The average household size was 2.27 people, and the average family size was 2.94 people. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 23.8% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 86 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.5 males. The median age is 39.5 years, The median age of males was 36.4 years, for females the median age was 41.8 years. The racial makeup of the city was 6835 White, 225 Black or African American, 6 American Indian, 24 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 99 from two or more races and 22 Ohter races.
