Franklin City is a city located in the St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. As of 2000 the population was 8354. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7680, It is the 66th largest by population in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is spread over 10.49 square miles (27.17 sq km), of which, 10.36 square miles (26.83 sq km ) of it is land and 0.13 square miles (0.34 sq km) of it is water, making it the 53rd largest by size in Louisiana.

The population density was 806.5 people per square mile (311.39/kmē), it is the 177th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The racial makeup of the city was 3966 White, 4177 Black or African American, 53 American Indian, 26 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 107 from two or more races and 25 Ohter races.
