Franklin City is a city located in the Heard County, Georgia, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Franklin City is home to 902 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 885 in July 2008, making it Georgia's 347th largest. The city comprises an area of 3.39 sq mi (8.78 sq km), of which, 3.25 square miles (8.42 sq km) of it is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 237th largest by total area in Georgia.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 902 residents, 349 households, and 203 families in the city. The population density was 277.8 people per square mile (107.26/kmē), making its Georgia's 148th least densely populated city. There were 398 housing units at an average density of 122.5 per square mile (47.3/kmē). The average household size was 2.27 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 24.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 77.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 68.9 males. The median age is 39.9 years, the median age of male residents at 33.9 and the median age of female residents at 42.8. The racial makeup of the city was 69.07% White, 29.93% Black or African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.55% from two or more races and 0.33% Other races.
