Frankfort City, Franklin County, Kentucky is a city located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. It is home to over 27741 people (2000 census). It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 27322, It is seventh most populous in Kentucky. The city spans an area of 15.01 sq mi (38.88 sq km), of which, 14.73 square miles (38.15 sq km) of it is land and 0.28 square miles (0.73 sq km) of it is water, it is the 17th largest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
