Fountain County is a county in the United States of Indiana. In 2000, county's population was 17954 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 17041, It is Indiana's 15th least populous county. It covers total area of 397.92 sq mi (1030.61 sq km), of which, 395.69 square miles (1024.83 sq km) of it is land and 2.23 square miles (5.78 sq km) of it is water, making it Indiana's 50th largest county by total area.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 17041, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 16745 White, 80 Black or African American, 36 American Indian, 76 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 103 from two or more races.
