Fort Walton Beach City is a city located in the Okaloosa County, Florida, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Fort Walton Beach City is home to 19973 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 18880, giving it the 146th largest population among Florida. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.21 square miles (21.26 sq km), of which, 7.44 square miles (19.27 sq km) of it is land and 0.76 square miles (1.97 sq km) of it is water, making it the 223rd largest by size in Florida.

The racial makeup of the city was 15746 White, 2664 Black or African American, 90 American Indian, 543 Asian, 16 Native Hawaiian, 671 from two or more races and 243 Ohter races.
