Fort Pierre City is a United States city located in the Stanley County, South Dakota, United States. Fort Pierre City had an official population of 1991 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 2010, It is 38th most populous in South Dakota. The city comprises an area of 2.95 miē (7.64 kmē), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.51 kmē) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 kmē) of it is water, it is the 44th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota. It is ranks 20 in the size of its inland waterways in South Dakota.

The population density was 686.6 people per square mile (265.1/kmē), it would be the 161st most densely populated city in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
