According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Fort Myers Shores Cdp is home to 5793 inhabitants. making it Florida's 382nd largest. Its area is just over 2.46 mi˛ (6.37 sq km), of which, 2.15 square miles (5.57 sq km) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 sq km) of it is water, it is the 550th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.
