Fort Lee Borough is a United States borough located in the Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of 2000 the population was 35461. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the borough is 36275, It is 38th most populous in New Jersey. The borough extends throughout a territory of 2.88 mi˛ (7.46 sq km ), of which, 2.53 square miles (6.55 sq km) of it is land and 0.35 square miles (0.91 sq km) of it is water, it is the 202nd largest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 35461 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the borough. The population density was 14001.7 people per square mile (5406.09/km˛), giving it the 15th most densely populated borough among the New Jersey. There were 17446 housing units at an average density of 6895.7 per square mile (2662.44/km˛). The average household size was 2.14 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons.
