Ford County, Kansas is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 32458 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 33293, It is Kansas's 17th most populous county. The county spans an area of 1099.29 mi˛ (2847.15 sq km), of which, 1098.5 square miles (2845.1 sq km) of it is land and 0.79 square miles (2.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the eighth largest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

The population density was 29.5 people per square mile (11.39/km˛), giving it the 29th most densely populated county among the Kansas. There were 11650 housing units at an average density of 10.6 per square mile (4.09/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.92 persons, and the average family size was 3.42 persons. In the county Age distribution was 31.1% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.3 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 33293, The racial makeup of the county was 93.77% White, 2.02% Black or African American, 0.93% American Indian, 1.92% Asian, 0.2% Native Hawaiian, and 1.15% from two or more races.
