Folly Beach City, Charleston County, South Carolina is a city located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 2116. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2412, making it South Carolina's 169th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.64 mi˛ (48.28 square kilometre), of which, 12.26 square miles (31.75 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.38 square miles (16.52 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in South Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2116 residents, 1060 households, and 490 families in the city. The population density was 172.7 people per square mile (66.68/km˛), making its South Carolina's 51st least densely populated city. There were 1747 housing units at an average density of 142.5 per square mile (55.02/km˛). The average household size was 2 people, and the average family size was 2.51 people.
