Foard County is a county located in Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 1622 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1361, making it Texas's 12th smallest county. Its area is just over 707.69 sq mi (1832.91 kmē), of which, 706.68 square miles (1830.29 kmē) of it is land and 1.01 square miles (2.62 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 35th smallest by total area among Texas's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1622 people in the county, organized into 664 households, and 438 families living in the county. The population density was 2.3 people per square mile (0.89/kmē), giving it the 26th least densely populated county among the Texas. There were 850 housing units at an average density of 1.2 per square mile (0.46/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.02. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.8% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 23.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 86.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.1 males. Its population was estimated at 1361 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 1269 White, 57 Black or African American, 17 American Indian, 2 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 16 from two or more races.
