Floyd County is a county located in the United States of Kentucky. The population of the county was 42441 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 42094, giving it the 24th largest population among Kentucky's county. The county spans an area of 395.46 square miles (1024.24 sq km), of which, 394.29 square miles (1021.21 sq km) of it is land and 1.16 square miles (3 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 36th largest by total area in Kentucky.
