Florala City is a city in the Covington County, Alabama, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 1964 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1884, It is the 194th most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. The city encompasses an area of 10.93 mi˛ (28.31 sq km ), of which, 10.5 square miles (27.19 sq km) of it is land and 0.43 square miles (1.11 sq km) of it is water, it is the 123rd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1964 people, 898 households, and 527 families residing in the city. The population density was 187 people per square mile (72.2/km˛), it would be the 137th least densely populated city in the U.S. state of Alabama. There were 1103 housing units at an average density of 105 per square mile (40.54/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.19 persons, and the average family size was 2.86 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 82.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 76.3 males. The median age of the city's population was 42 years, the median age of male residents at 38.9 and the median age of female residents at 44.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 80.75% White, 15.68% Black or African American, 0.87% American Indian, 0.61% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 1.43% from two or more races and 0.66% Other races.
