Fitchburg City is a city located in the Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It is home to over 39102 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 40239, It is the 35th largest by population in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It covers total area of 28.06 square miles (72.68 sq km), of which, 27.76 square miles (71.9 sq km) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 15th largest by total area in Massachusetts.
