According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 407.08 miē (1054.33 kmē), of which, 406.58 square miles (1053.04 kmē) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.29 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.
