Farmington City, San Juan County, New Mexico is a city located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. It is home to over 37844 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 42637, It is the seventh largest by population in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Its area is just over 26.98 square miles (69.88 kmē), of which, 26.57 square miles (68.82 kmē) of it is land and 0.42 square miles (1.09 kmē) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.

The population density was 1424.5 people per square mile (550/kmē), it would be the 24th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of New Mexico.
