Falls County is a United States county located in the United States of Texas. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 18576 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 16900, It is 129th most populous county in Texas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 773.81 square miles (2004.16 square kilometre), of which, 769.09 square miles (1991.93 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.72 square miles (12.22 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Texas's 44th smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18576 people in the county, organized into 6496 households, and 4410 families residing in the county. The population density was 24.2 people per square mile (9.34/kmē), it is the 117th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 7658 housing units at an average density of 10 per square mile (3.86/kmē). The average household size was 2.54 people, and the average family size was 3.15 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 74.4 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 16900, The racial makeup of the county was 71.3% White, 27.05% Black or African American, 0.69% American Indian, 0.19% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.74% from two or more races.
