Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska is a borough of the United States of Alaska. In 2000, the population was 82840. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 97970, making it the second most populous borough in Alaska. The borough spans an area of 7444.02 square miles (19279.92 square kilometre), of which, 7366.24 square miles (19078.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 77.78 square miles (201.45 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the seventh smallest by size in Alaska.


As of the census of 2000, there were 82840 people, 29777 households, and 20502 families living in the borough. The population density was 11.2 people per square mile (4.32/kmē), it is the fourth most populated borough in terms of population density. There were 33291 housing units at an average density of 4.5 per square mile (1.74/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 people, and the average family size was 3.2 people. In the borough Population was distributed with 30.1% under the age of 18, 12.2% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 4.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 109.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.9 males.
