Fairbanks City is a city located in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska, United States. The population of the city was 30224 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 35132, It is the third largest by population in the U.S. state of Alaska. The city spans an area of 32.67 mi˛ (84.61 sq km), of which, 31.86 square miles (82.52 sq km) of it is land and 0.81 square miles (2.1 sq km) of it is water, it is the 154th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 30224 residents, 11075 households, and 7187 families in the city. The population density was 948.7 people per square mile (366.3/km˛), it is Alaska's seventh most densely populated city. There were 12357 housing units at an average density of 387.9 per square mile (149.77/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.15. The population's age distribution was 29.4% under the age of 18, 14.7% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 105.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.2 males.
