Estill County, Kentucky is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 15307 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 14948, It is Kentucky's 77th most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 255.7 sq mi (662.26 square kilometre ), of which, 253.93 square miles (657.68 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.76 square miles (4.56 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 35th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky.


As of the census of 2000, there were 15307 residents, 6108 households, and 4432 families in the county. The population density was 60.3 people per square mile (23.28/kmē), it is the 60th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
