Espanola City is one of the city of Rio Arriba and Santa Fe counties, New Mexico, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Espanola City had an official population of 9688 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 9691, making it New Mexico's 22nd largest. The city has a total area of 8.46 mi˛ (21.91 square kilometre), of which, 8.38 square miles (21.7 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 60th largest by total area among New Mexico.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 9688 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the city. The population density was 1155.4 people per square mile (446.1/km˛), it is 34th most densely populated city in New Mexico.
