Erlanger City is a city located in the Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 16676 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 17188, making it Kentucky's 26th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.42 square miles (21.81 sq km), of which, 8.33 square miles (21.57 sq km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 41st largest by total area in Kentucky.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 16676 residents, 6597 households, and 4409 families in the city. The population density was 2002.4 people per square mile (773.13/kmē), it is the 127th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Kentucky. There were 6865 housing units at an average density of 824.1 per square mile (318.19/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 33% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males. The median age of the city's population was 34.3 years, the median age of male residents at 32.5 and the median age of female residents at 35.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 96.08% White, 1.81% Black or African American, 0.08% American Indian, 0.71% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, 0.87% from two or more races and 0.42% Other races.
