Erie City is a city located in Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Erie City is home to 103717 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 103817, making it Pennsylvania's fourth largest. The city has a total area of 27.99 miē (72.49 kmē), of which, 21.96 square miles (56.88 kmē) of it is land and 6.03 square miles (15.62 kmē) of it is water, it is the tenth largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 4722.9 people per square mile (1823.52/kmē), making its Pennsylvania's 162nd most densely populated city.
