Ephrata Borough is a United States borough located in the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of 2000 the population was 13213. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 13074, It is 72nd most populous in Pennsylvania. It has total area of 3.61 square miles (9.35 square kilometre), of which, 3.6 square miles (9.32 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 172nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13213 people in the borough, organized into 5477 households, and 3564 families living in the borough. The population density was 3672.7 people per square mile (1418.04/kmē), giving it the 283rd most densely populated borough among the Pennsylvania. There were 5672 housing units at an average density of 1575.6 per square mile (608.34/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.94. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 24% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males. The median age was 36 years, The median age of males and females living in Ephrata Borough was 34.7 and 37.3 years respectively. The racial makeup of the borough was 96.1% White, 0.64% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 1.06% Asian, 0.14% Native Hawaiian, 0.98% from two or more races and 0.82% Other races.
