Elmwood Park Borough is a one of the Bergen County, New Jersey, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 18925 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 18634 in July 2008, making it the 73rd most populous in New Jersey. The borough comprises an area of 2.76 mi˛ (7.15 sq km), of which, 2.65 square miles (6.86 sq km) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 sq km) of it is water, it is the 219th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 18925 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 7129.8 people per square mile (2752.83/km˛), it is New Jersey's 56th most densely populated borough. There were 7242 housing units at an average density of 2732.8 per square mile (1055.14/km˛). The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.17. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 20.9% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. The median age of the borough's population was 38.5 years, The median age of males was 36.7 years, for females the median age was 40.3 years. The racial makeup of the borough was 15619 White, 409 Black or African American, 21 American Indian, 1477 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 557 from two or more races and 841 Ohter races.
