Ellsworth City is a city in the Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population of the city was 6456 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7103, It is 23rd most populous in Maine. It covers total area of 93.82 mi˛ (242.99 sq km), of which, 79.25 square miles (205.26 sq km) of it is land and 14.57 square miles (37.74 sq km) of it is water, giving it the largest by total area among Maine. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Maine.

The population density was 81.5 people per square mile (31.47/km˛), it is the second least populated city in terms of population density.
