Ellendale City is a city located in Steele County, Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 590. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 673, giving it the 452nd largest population among Minnesota. The city has a total area of 0.89 mi˛ (2.31 square kilometre), making it Minnesota's 567th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 590 people, 252 households, and 166 families living in the city. The population density was 662.8 people per square mile (255.91/km˛), it is the 423rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Minnesota.
