Elkhart County, Indiana is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 182791 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 199137, It is the sixth largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 467.85 square miles (1211.73 sq km), of which, 463.81 square miles (1201.26 sq km) of it is land and 4.03 square miles (10.44 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 17th largest by total area among Indiana's county.
