El Paso County is one of the 254 county of Texas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the El Paso County is home to 679622 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 742062, making it the seventh most populous county in Texas. It has total area of 1014.68 sq mi (2628.01 square kilometre), of which, 1013.11 square miles (2623.94 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.57 square miles (4.07 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Texas's 79th largest county by total area.

The population density was 670.8 people per square mile (259/kmē), making it the sixth most densely populated county in Texas. There were 224447 housing units at an average density of 221.5 per square mile (85.52/kmē). The average household size was 3.18 and the average family size was 3.63. In the county Population was distributed with 32% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 742062, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 687183 White, 27074 Black or African American, 8512 American Indian, 9009 Asian, 1268 Native Hawaiian, and 9016 from two or more races.
