El Paso County, Colorado


El Paso County is a county in the United States of Colorado. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 516929 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 596053, It is Colorado's second most populous county. Its area is just over 2129.56 square miles (5515.54 sq km), of which, 2126.45 square miles (5507.48 sq km) of it is land and 3.11 square miles (8.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the 19th largest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 516929 residents, 192409 households, and 133829 families in the county. The population density was 243.1 people per square mile (93.86/kmē), making its Colorado's sixth most densely populated county. There were 202428 housing units at an average density of 95.2 per square mile (36.76/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.61 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.6% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 596053, The racial makeup of the county was 85.18% White, 7.03% Black or African American, 1.18% American Indian, 3.07% Asian, 0.3% Native Hawaiian, and 3.24% from two or more races.
